La Linea
La Linea de la Concepción is the full name for the border town to Gibraltar. La Linea means "the line" and refers to the border line with Gibraltar. The town has strong ties with Gib as many of the citizens work there and the other way around. There is a statue in front of the border as a tribute to all Spanish workers crossing the border every day to go to work on the other side of the border. For Gibraltarians or foreigners working in Gib it is much cheaper to live outside and pay the rent in Euros but get paid in Sterling in Gibraltar.
When visiting Gibraltar it can be good to leave the car parked in La Linea and walk across the border to avoid the traffic queues. Look for a blue line area to park or one of the several under groundgarages close to the border.
